Atlético de Madrid have blocked the sale of tickets outside the home to supporters in the stands during the next five official meetings. The measure, which was communicated by email and is official, is taken to close in the meantime the expulsion of those who participated in the incidents in the derby against Real Madrid. The matches concerned are two from the League (Betis and Mallorca), two from the Champions League (PSG and Sparta Prague) and one from the Copa del Rey (Vic).
The letter that Atlético sent to its subscribers says the following in reference to the measure adopted:
“Dear partner
As you know, in recent days the club has received two serious sanctions and financial fines following various incidents committed by certain supporters.
Due to the incidents during the match against Real Madrid, which occurred in the lower part of the south end, the Competition Commission closed this entire area of the stadium for three matches, although this sanction was subject to of a call. the club and we are waiting to receive the resolution of the appeal. Likewise, the Anti-Violence Commission proposed the complete closure of the stadium for two weeks, and the club also received financial fines amounting to 105,000 euros for the said match.
It is obvious that the damage caused to the image of Atlético de Madrid and its supporters, the vast majority of whom showed exemplary behavior, is difficult to repair. The seriousness of the matter and the responsibility to ensure the image of our club requires us to act immediately while all those involved in these incidents are identified and expelled as partners.
We are aware that this measure is unfair to many members located in the said area of the stadium who behaved correctly and in this case we apologize. But, as we have indicated, “This is an extremely serious situation.”
