He Atletico Madrid closes its own investigation into the Madrid derby incidents at the Metropolitan Stadium with the definitive expulsion of nine associates. This is the only real measure taken by Atlético de Madrid, which announces that the sale of tickets for home matches to season ticket holders located in “the entertainment stand” resumes normally.

After the incidents of the Madrid League derby, played in Metropolitan Stadium and in which the radical ultras of Atlético They threw lighters and other objects at Thibaut Courtoisthe red and white team explains that it is closing the investigation – prepared by itself, in collaboration with the Police – with the expulsion of these nine partners. There are nine people identified as the causes of these incidentsthat is to say the red and white supporters who threw these lighters.

This is the only measure. Atlético de Madrid is not taking any more given the serious incidents which gave rise to two different sanctions. On the one hand, that of the Competition Commission of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, which closed the ultra stands for three matches, although later the Appeal Commission reduced the penalty match to one, already served against Leganes. On the other, that of Anti-Violence, which is in reality a proposed sanction (which remains to be executed), which calls for the complete closure of the Metropolitan Stadium.

The process of identifying these nine partners It took Atlético a monthcarried out by the security service of the Madrid entity itself. Atlético expels them because what they did during the Metropolitano derby is classified “in the club’s internal regulations as very serious”.

Full statement from Atlético Madrid

Atlético de Madrid have carried out an investigation in collaboration with the Police since the incidents that occurred during the derby on September 29, with objects thrown from part of the lower stands in the southern part of our stadium. Following these events, the Competition Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation decided to partially close our stadium for three matches of the lower level of the South Fund and to impose a fine of 45,000 euros. Subsequently, our legal services presented an appeal to the Appeals Commission, which was partially heard, leaving the closure of this area of the stadium during a match – carried out during the match against Leganés on October 20 – and a fine of 3,000 euros. At the same time, the Anti-Violence Commission proposed a sanction of total closure of the stadium for two weeks and a financial fine of 65,000 euros.

Those same days, a small group of supporters made gestures at Lisbon’s Da Luz stadium that the UEFA appeals committee considered racist and discriminatory behavior. For this reason, we were banned from selling home tickets for a Champions League match, but on the condition that this type of behavior does not happen again the following year, in addition to a fine of 30,000 euros .

During this month, our security service has worked to identify the people involved in these events, examining all the audiovisual documents at its disposal and in collaboration with the police, finishing this process with the opening of a file permanent expulsion of 9 partners for classified acts. the internal regulations of the club as being very serious. It also included in its internal regulations the ban on using any item or clothing inside the stadium that makes it impossible to distinguish a person’s face in order to hide their identity. In addition, the club has taken the preventive measure of not selling tickets for away matches in Seville, Vic, Paris, Palma de Mallorca and Prague to season ticket holders located in the stands for the duration of the investigation.

Once this procedure to identify the people involved in the definitive exclusion of 9 members has been completed, the sale of tickets for home matches for subscribers located in the stands will resume normally for the trip to Valladolid. The application is open to all members (subscribers and non-subscribers), under the same usual conditions (all tickets are nominative and non-transferable and can only be used by the regular member) and with the same allocation criteria (priority due to member seniority) or average age of the group in the case of groups of up to 6 members). Furthermore, to make it easier for our members to organize their trip and make their hotel or travel reservations upon confirmation of their entry, the admission period will now be closed for all away matches. on request within 24 hours. to confirm the match time and immediately after, within the next 48 hours, tickets will be allocated and payment must be made.

Once again, we reiterate our strongest condemnation of any expression of violence and our commitment to fight against this type of attitude which has no place in football, does not represent the general feeling of our supporters and tarnishes the image of Atlético de Madrid.
