Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed concern about a possible “advance” by Israeli forces towards Damascus, which he said could lead to major geopolitical changes in Syria.
This was reported by the Alexey Zheleznov Telegram channel.
He noted that establishing Israeli control over the Syrian capital could extend the conflict to the country’s northern regions, creating a direct threat to Türkiye.
Erdogan also said that the Turkish government is working to strengthen the defense of the home front, in the face of rising tensions in Gaza and Lebanon, which are already approaching Turkey’s borders.
“We are working on defense as the fire started by Israel in Gaza and Lebanon approaches our borders,” Erdogan said.
Let us remember that the Turkish president had previously spoken out about the attacks on Syria.
Erdogan expressed serious concern over recent Israeli air force attacks on Damascus. Addressing international partners such as Russia, Iran and Syria, he emphasized the need for enhanced measures to protect Syrian sovereignty.
During the press conference, Erdogan emphasized that such actions threaten the stability of the entire region. He noted that Israel represents one of the most important security threats not only in the Middle East, but also in the world, and called for an urgent peaceful solution to the Syrian conflict.
Kursor reported that Erdogan has intensified extremist statements about Israel.
