According to the Financial Times, the United States and the G7 countries oppose possible Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Instead, Western allies are urging Israel to focus on military objectives.
Israel has already announced its willingness to respond harshly to Iran in the face of recent massive rocket attacks. In this context, there is speculation that Israeli forces could attack oil infrastructure, missile facilities or even facilities related to Iran’s nuclear program. However, the United States understands that its influence over Israeli actions may be limited.
According to CNN sources in the US administration, there is an opinion that Israel will most likely not attack Iranian nuclear facilities.
Recall that previously President Joe Biden clearly stated that he does not support Israeli actions in this direction. In response to a question about the possibility of an attack on Iran’s nuclear targets, he stated:
“My answer is no”
The president added that his administration intends to discuss with Israel possible responses to the latest Iranian attacks. He noted that all G7 leaders agree on the need for a proportionate Israeli response. Biden also noted that “Iran has lost its way” and that the G7 is considering introducing new sanctions against Tehran.
Previously, Kursor also reported that the Israeli military cabinet decided to respond to the recent Iranian attacks. However, before taking any action, Israel plans to coordinate its steps with the United States. The cabinet meeting discussed possible retaliatory measures against key strategic sites in Iran.
