Iraq’s Foreign Minister said Iran had given assurances to Baghdad that it would not launch attacks on Israel from Iraq, despite media reports to the contrary.
The Telegram channel “Alexey Zheleznov” writes about this.
In turn, former American diplomat David Shanker expressed the opinion that Israel is preparing to attack Shiite groups in Iraq that support Iran and, according to him, this could happen in the near future.
Recall that Saudi political commentator Dr. Muhammad Saleh Sadekian on the Al-Hadth channel explained the reasons why Israel refrains from attacking Iraqi territory.
He noted that the United States plays a key role in containing possible Israeli attacks against Iraqi groups, influencing their strategic decisions. Security sources confirm that the US side is making efforts to avoid an escalation in Iraq, despite tensions in the region.
Sadekian highlighted that in the Arab world there is an understanding of Israel’s desire to expand the conflict zone, encompassing Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and Syria. In his opinion, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is interested in extending the conflict to the entire region and is willing to use the presence of pro-Iran groups as a pretext to attack.
The expert also noted that relations between Iran and Iraq remain strong and are supported by regular dialogue at the highest level, as well as coordination in the political, military and cultural spheres. He added that Shiite religious authorities in Iraq are avoiding open confrontation with Israel, reducing the likelihood of direct attacks against the country.
Sadekian called on Arab states to put pressure on the United States, since, according to him, it is Washington that has enough influence to stop Netanyahu from further escalation.
Previously, Kursor wrote that Israel had issued an ultimatum to Iraq.
