The IDF is preparing a rescue operation for Israelis in Amsterdam following the recent attacks.
An IDF spokesperson said that, following instructions from political leaders and after a thorough assessment of the situation, it was decided to immediately send a delegation including medical and rescue teams to help the victims.
The Logistics Command will lead the operation and work in close coordination with the Dutch authorities, as well as in conjunction with other IDF units and security services.
Let us remember that the United States special representative for combating anti-Semitism, Deborah Lipstadt, condemned the attacks against Israelis in Amsterdam, becoming the first representative of the Biden administration to respond to the incident. According to her, the attacks resemble a “classic pogrom” and fill her with horror.
Lipstadt also expressed deep concern about the duration of the attacks and called for a thorough investigation into the actions of security forces and the circumstances under which the attacks took place.
The ambassador pointed out that what happened had a tragic historical parallel, coinciding with the anniversary of Kristallnacht, the pogroms carried out by the Nazis against the Jews in 1938.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry, citing information from Dutch authorities, said that 10 Israelis were injured as a result of attacks on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans in Amsterdam, but there is no exact data yet on the severity of their injuries. The ministry also said it currently has no contact with Israelis in Amsterdam and advises Israeli citizens to stay in their hotels.
The National Security Council has added a recommendation to avoid the public display of Israeli and Jewish symbols in public to ensure the safety of citizens.
