The President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezdeclared before the judge Juan Carlos Peinado in La Moncloa. It was last April 30. As heard in the audio published by OKDIARIO, Sánchez took advantage of the right not to testify against his wife before the investigator who is investigating Begoña Gómez, for influence peddling and corruption in business. The statement came after just two minutes.
The Begoña Gómez Court of Instruction summoned the parties this Monday to provide them with the recording of the summons of Pedro Sánchez as a witness, dated July 30, in which he exercised his right not to testify in the case against his wife.
“For your honor, the President was asked if he had a certain relationship with some of the people being investigated. He obviously stated that he was my client’s spouse. From there, he asked him if he accepted the waiver of non-declaration. He said yes,” Gómez’s lawyer, Antonio Camacho, later explained. Sánchez had asked to declare in writinga request that was rejected by Judge Peinado.
The testimony lasted 20 minutes due to technical problems and took place in an office set up in the La Moncloa complex. was not allowed to the charges to ask questions, after the president refused to testify.
Complaint

“What becomes relevant, let us not be mistaken, is what the person under investigation did given the fact that her husband is the president of the government, that is, given his position. It is not possible to dissociate a person and claim that he is going to be questioned as a husband, when the determining factor of the object of the investigation, as we have said, is the state of President of the government of the husband of the woman investigated,” he says.
In this sense, the text insists on the fact that “Today” Sánchez’s team does not know the reasons why the judge considers that Sánchez, as a witness, “can only know the facts he wants to question outside the exercise of his functions.”
“There is a long history of how court resolutions can influence in the political future of a country, both in Spain and abroad,” stresses the Lawyers’ Office, which emphasizes that “it is about preventing the exercise of judicial power from unnecessarily altering the course and work of the other powers of the State.” Likewise, it insists that there is “not the slightest clue” to “support” the procedure that the judge accepted and claims that with his “conjectures” he generates “gratuitous discredit” and “discredits” the presidency of the government.
