“Australia has stepped up its climate commitment by investing more than $20 billion in clean energy and contributing an additional $50 million to the Loss and Damage Fund.”
“Informe” reports that this was stated by the Minister of Climate Change and Energy of Australia, Chris Bowen, at the high-level meeting held within the framework of COP29.
He highlighted the importance of international cooperation to achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and confirmed Australia’s candidacy to host COP31 in partnership with the Pacific region. According to the minister, this call will be an important step to strengthen global efforts in the fight against climate change. “We are willing to contribute to the organization of this important forum,” he stated.
K. Bowen added: “I want to express my gratitude to COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev. We look forward to working closely with him and his team to achieve results.”
