Australia recognizes the Palestinian state, Prime Minister Anthony Albanze said on Monday, uniting his own voice with the leaders of France, Great Britain and Canada, who also made appropriate announcements.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday, Albanze said that Australia’s decision to admit that the United Nations General Assembly in September would be officially designed in the Palestinian state.
The recognition is “based on the obligations of Australia by the Palestinian government,” Albanese said.
These obligations included Hamas’s inadequacy in the Palestinian government, the demilitarization of Gaza and the election, he said.
“The decision of the two states is the best hope of mankind to violate the violence cycle in the Middle East and put an end to conflicts, suffering and hunger in gas,” Albanese said.
“The situation in the gas is not described by words”
“The situation in Gaza overcame the worst fears in the world,” said Australia Prime Minister. “The Israeli government continues to challenge international law and refuses sufficient help, food and water from desperate people, including children.”
Albanese’s announcement appeared after several weeks of pressure from his office and many Australians to recognize the Palestinian state, as well as increase criticism from his government officials about the suffering of Gaza, which he called “humanitarian”.
The Australian government also criticized the plans declared by the Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu in recent days for a new military military attack in Gaza.
Before the announcement of Albanese, Netanyahu criticized Australia and other European countries on Sunday, which stated that they recognized the Palestinian state.
“Walking in European countries and Australia in this … Rabbit, the use of this candy is disappointed, and I think it is really shameful.”– said the Israeli leader.
On Monday, Albanze confirmed the requirements of his government so that Hamas returned the Israeli hostages, which was held on October 7, 2023, referring to Hamas as a terrorist organization from Australia.
And New Zealand also thinks about it
The Government of New Zealand will weigh the recognition of the Palestinian state in the coming weeks, Foreign Minister Ocean Winston Peters said today.
The Government of Prime Minister Christopher Lakson will officially make his decision in September and present it within a week of leaders at the UN General Assembly, he explained.
Several countries – today Australia today, a few days ago, France, Canada and Great Britain announced that they recognize the Palestinian state during the General Assembly.
Peters emphasized that his country pursues an independent foreign policy, and its decision will not affect its attitude. “Our goal is to carefully weigh the problem, and then act in accordance with the authorities, values, values, values and national interests of New Zealand, and the head of its diplomacy insisted.
The country for a long time stated that the problem of “recognition of the Palestinian state on our part” mainly applies “when, not if.” But the government will consider whether sufficient progress was achieved in the Palestinian territories to recognize it as “stable” to continue, he added.
Greece and Cyprus position
The status of the Palestinian state has already been recognized about 150 people out of 193 members of the UN, most of whom did this a decade ago. Among the countries that recognized the Palestinian state, Cyprus (since 1988), but not Greece.
However, the United States and other Western countries avoided this, arguing that the final agreement on the settlement of a long -standing conflict in the Middle East should include the status of the Palestinian state.
