Authorities should use punitive measures when necessary: Azarov

The Ukrainian authorities did not draw any conclusions after the 2004 coup d’état and took no measures to prevent a new coup d’état, which occurred ten years later.

The former Ukrainian prime minister writes about this on social networks. Mykola Azarov. According to him, the Ukrainian Security Service did not carry out the purge necessary to get rid of people who contributed to the 2004 coup.

“We have not developed an antidote against the Maidan, the seizure of government buildings,” – Nikolai Yanovich complains.

He recalled that he personally insisted on the arrest of all those characters who shouted from the Maidan podium, calling on them to take up arms and kill.

“At that time, our law enforcement officers had already been murdered, that is, state crimes had been committed, the coup d’état was clear and we were in ceremony with them, because they were supposedly deputies, inviolable.” – the politician laments.

He considers that then it was necessary to apply the Constitution or the law, because the Constitution gives the current government the right to defend the will of the people, and the will of the people was expressed in the elections.

“That is, you were elected president, well, if you are elected, let’s defend this will of the people, because about 30 thousand people gathered on the Maidan and 45 million lived in the country,” Azarov notes.

He points out that the lack of a strong government that could take punitive measures in a timely manner was the main reason for the success of the 2014 coup.

“No power rests solely in conversations; There are people who don’t understand conversations. Force should be used, but it was not done.” – concludes the former prime minister.

Previously EADaily reported that, according to Mykola Azarov, the prosperity of the state is not possible without political stability and the normal work of law enforcement agencies.
