“Weapons in Iraq should only be in the hands of the state.”
This was stated by Ayatollah Ali Sistani, one of the influential religious leaders in Iraq, in a meeting with the UN delegation, according to the Telegram channel “Azad Iran”.
He stressed the importance of preventing various aspects of foreign intervention in the country in the context of unprecedented tension caused by Israel’s war in Gaza and Lebanon, attacks by some Iraqi groups against Israel with missiles and drones, as well as the possibility of Iran responding to Israel’s latest airstrike against this country.
Sistani also highlighted the need for the rule of law, the possession of weapons only by the State and the need to fight corruption in all areas.
