The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, described as “madness” the intention of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to “shatter the health system” by dismantling the General Mutuality of Civil Servants of the State (MUFACE) and transfer 1.5 million mutual members to the autonomous communities.
The Madrid president wanted to say that she only hopes that “the government opens its eyes and realizes that it cannot further collapse the health system, already so affected throughout Spain. There is a lack of doctors, there is a lack of funding for certain treatments and medications. Thus, he considers that it is “insane” that a system like ours, already in great demand throughout the country, can absorb between 1.5 and 2 million civil servants at once, because “the system will be blocked “.
In this sense, Díaz Ayuso asked himself Who will be harmed? and his answer is clear: “The usual ones and all the patients,” he said. Because only in the Community of Madrid “If we grow by 120,000 residents a year and add 300,000 new people, that means blocking waiting lists. This means harming treatments and that’s crazy. “I don’t know where they want to take us but, of course, many officials are totally against it.”
Until now, “Muface was working well and we don’t know why it was decided to dismantle it”. It is for this reason that the president stressed that “with the amount of things that can be done in terms of health in Spain, I think we need to talk between ministries because, to make things worse, they agree all wrong”, in direct reference to the Minister of Public Service, Óscar López, and of Health, Mónica García.
Precisely this Tuesday, the Minister of Health of the Community of Madrid, Fátima Matute, criticized the “lack of coordination” and the “clairvoyance” of the Central Executive, headed by the Ministries of Civil Service and Health, and “these events which will do nothing other than harm all Spaniards and undermine what we have more valuable in Spain, which is our national health system. “In conclusion, we need someone responsible in the ministries,” he stressed.
Finally, he referred to waiting lists to warn that “if they overload the system, not only in Madrid, but in other communities that have less response capacity” than the Community, there will be “very tension important in our health system. .
“Ideologization” of measurement
The Institute for Health Development and Integration (IDIS Foundation) also expressed its rejection of the report published by the Ministry of Health in which it proposes to eliminate Muface and integrate the mutualist population into the National System of Health (SNS), still expressing his concern about the “ideologization” of the said document and warned of the risks that this would entail for patients.a massive transition mutual users from the private system to the public system.
Thus, the Foundation considers that this change would have “consequences“for the functioning of the SNS, which is why he called on the health authorities to approach this problem in a “comprehensive” way and “with a vision for the future, avoiding decisions that could further compromise the sustainability of the system and put people at risk, patients.
