Azcón will invest 7 million in robotic surgery equipment to “reduce waiting lists”

Aragon will, in the years to come, five robotic surgery equipment high precision, distributed in the three provinces, thanks to the investment that Jorge Azcon announced this Thursday in the Cortes of Aragon.

Jorge Azcón committed to improving the health situation of the Aragonese and announced that “will multiply by five» the number of robotic surgery teams in order to “reduce waiting lists”. This was announced during the second day of the regional debate, held at the Cortes of Aragon, in turn to respond to the PSOE.

The robotic surgery teams of Aragon

After a concatenation of crossed accusations, in which the PSOE accused the Azcón executive of worsening the state of public health with the aim of “privatizing” it, the Aragonese president made an important announcement in matters of health .

This is the investment of 7 million euros in robotic surgery equipment to reduce waiting lists, installed in the three Aragonese provinces. The Ministry of Health is working to expand this technology throughout the country, to achieve more equitable access to health care. This technology represents a substantial improvement in quality, shortening patient hospitalization and recovery times.

Last year the Government of Aragon awarded 1.9 million euros a robotics team in the Hospital Clinic of Zaragoza, which will be installed in November and will be integrated with the existing one in the Miguel Serve University Hospitalt, known as the Da Vinci robot, the cost of which exceeded 2.3 million euros, and which the PSOE promoted during its last mandate.

Furthermore, as announced during the Regional Debate, two surgical robotics teams will be put into competition for 2.9 million inside Saint-Georges Hospital of Huesca and in the Roy Villanova of Zaragoza, to contribute to the reduction of waiting lists in Aragon. Additionally, this technology will be provided to Obispo Polanco Hospital from Teruel. So that all three provinces will have this technology in the future.

This announcement joins the improvements in infrastructure and health personnel announced on the first day of the debate, such as the attribution of the drafting of the Functional plan of the Royo Villanova Hospital for its expansion, the reform and expansion of the emergency rooms of the Calatayud Hospital or the opening of the new Teruel Hospital, which will take place in the second half of 2025.

Healthcare in Aragón

Azcón criticized the PSOE in his speech that the left-wing government had cut “one 4% the Health budget so that there are fewer professionals and resources”, “when we emerge from the pandemic”.

In this sense, he criticized the attitude of the PSOE in this matter, because, although he recognized that there were still management problems in Aragon, they are taking steps to resolve them, including in the areas rural areas, for example, by straightening out the first 100 days of government, the service of Ambulances 24 hours a daywith a corresponding increase of 13% for this position.

He also recalled that waiting lists have been reduced by 8.3% Since January, “more and more people have been coming to Health”. “The greatest concern of the Aragonese with Health is face», emphasizing that 45,539 Aragonese They receive health care through this mutual insurance company of state agents.

The National Public Health Agency

In this regard, it should be remembered that in his speech this Wednesday, Jorge Azcón defended the candidacy of Zaragoza to host the National Public Health Agency. A strategic issue on which the community is banking, defending the Aragonese candidacy as “appropriate”.

A question that has been raised several times with the Minister of Health, Monica Garcia, and which was defended again during the bilateral meeting that Jorge Azcón held with the President of Government, Pedro Sanchezat Moncloa, October 10.

As the Aragonese Executive defends, Zaragoza’s candidacy is ideal for “having prestigious professionals”, for “having a scientific and research ecosystem”, and for the “intense activity” carried out by Aragonese universities and the rest of the body. In addition to the “geostrategic position”, and the binary of the “urban and rural” perspective.
