“Unfortunately we were unable to conclude the attacks with a goal.”
According to “Report”, Azerbaijan national football team coach Fernando Santosh made this statement at a press conference after the Nations League match against Sweden.
The 69-year-old specialist said the meeting was difficult.
“We started the match well. We had chances, unfortunately we couldn’t finish the attacks with a goal. Then we switched to the defensive system. Sweden is a strong team. The lads played well in defence. They attacked immediately when they came. The opportunity, unfortunately we couldn’t take advantage of the penalty. We started the second half well, but still we couldn’t finish our attacks successfully. I’m quite satisfied with the team’s offensive line, but they tried to score. I’m only 50 percent satisfied with the organisation of the game.”
The expert also expressed his opinion on the performance of goalkeeper Mehdi Jannatov:
“I’m satisfied with the goalkeeper, he saved the team from scoring on many occasions.”
It is worth noting that the Azerbaijan-Sweden match ended with a 3:1 victory for the guests.
