“The Dutch side once again shows a biased approach towards Azerbaijan and the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period.”
Oku.Az This was stated by Aykhan Hajizadeh, Head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
He noted that it is unacceptable for this country to celebrate the liberation of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan as the “capture of Nagorno-Karabakh.”
“The Karabakh region has always been an integral part of our country and was under illegal occupation by Armenia for almost 30 years. It is a pity that the Netherlands turns a blind eye to these illegal actions of Armenia. Azerbaijan’s measures for the liberation of these territories are based on the norms and principles of international law, as well as in one way or another it is the sovereign right of our country that cannot be misjudged.”
A. Hajizade stressed that it is not entirely true that the Karabakh region in Azerbaijan is called Nagorno-Karabakh.
“This is another clear manifestation of Armenia’s territorial claims against Azerbaijan. There is no administrative or geographical unit called “Nagorno-Karabakh” in Azerbaijan, as well as all states and organizations in the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan standardized by the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan and experts on Geographical Names of the United Nations Organization. We reiterate that reference should be made to geographical names adopted within the framework of the group. We call on the Dutch side to stop such statements that further undermine bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. Netherlands and hinder the future development of the region on the basis of the norms and principles of international law.”
