Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov instructed the country’s armed forces to maintain the combat capability of troops at a high level and increase surveillance on the border with Armenia.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, during the meeting Hasanov asked the army to be prepared to take preventive measures against “possible provocations by revanchist forces on the conditional border.”
According to Hasanov, the main task is to strengthen military power and combat capability.
At the end of May last year, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Yerevan is ready to recognize the sovereignty of Azerbaijan within the borders of the former USSR, that is, together with Karabakh. Speaking at the CIS summit in Moscow on October 8, 2024, Pashinyan said that Armenia agrees to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan this month.
