Bad Bunny Named 23rd Biggest Pop Star of the 21st Century by Billboard

The popular Puerto Rican artist was celebrated for his way of positioning himself at the top of the global music scene, with his own stamp and unique style.

With over 65 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, and the authorship of popular melodies that sweep the world’s charts, Bad Bunny’s emergence on the music scene is a milestone that paved the way for multiple exponents and will definitely go down in the history of the pop and urban genre.

At 30 years old, the Puerto Rican singer and songwriter is the winner of three Grammy Awards: Best Latin Pop or Urban Album for “YHLQMDLG”, Best Urban Music Album thanks to “El Último Tour del Mundo” and Best Urban Music Album with “Un Verano Sin Ti”.

He has also won a considerable number of 11 Latin Grammy Awards and other iconic awards from the Billboard Latin Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Latin American Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards.

So it is not surprising that he has now also been named the 23rd biggest pop star of the 21st century by Billboard.

What did Billboard say about Bad Bunny? A few days ago, Billboard began a recount of the 25 biggest pop stars of the last 25 years, highlighting artists like Billie Eilish, Cardi B, and Doja Cat with honorable mentions. Katy Perry was crowned the 25th star and Ed Sheeran ranked 24th.

Now, it was Bad Bunny’s turn, who came in at number 23 on the list, being classified as a “Latin trap phenomenon who conquered the world and transformed what it means to be a pop star in the U.S. and beyond.”

According to the music outlet, the musician has not only become one of the most recognizable faces and personalities in pop culture in general, but he also did it on his own, without following trends or making artistic concessions to anyone. Which would be an even more valuable achievement.

“In 2024, Bad Bunny stands as one of music’s biggest cultural drivers. The list of accolades and accomplishments he’s racked up in his career to this point is astounding, but his truest legacy may simply be proving that you can be the biggest pop star in the world without compromising music, image or language for the American market,” Billboard adds.
