The Provincial Council of Badajoz, controlled by the PSOE, awarded 25,000 euros to the financing of a Equality plan which promotes “women’s empowerment”. The file, to which OKDIARIO had access, aims to “prepare, implement and disseminate the III Equality Plan of the Provincial Delegation of Badajozas well as the evaluation of the II Equality Plan for women and men of the Provincial Delegation of Badajoz. Concretely, this contract was the subject of a call for tenders from the provincial institution for an amount amounting to 25,000 euros, i.e. 20,661.16 euros without taxes. In addition, the Provincial Council specifies that the maximum duration is 24 months.
This is a “consulting service” on equal opportunities” which, according to the specifications of the contract, responds to the “need to have instruments that allow the Provincial Council to consolidate its own work process of integration of the gender perspective“, in all activities carried out in the institution”, where the accused David Azagra is director of the Office of Performing Arts.
In this context, the socialists justify the use of “an external assistance company, taking into account the need for the project to require objective and independent assessment“, although the work is carried out in coordination with the staff of the Human Resources Service and the Equality Service of the Provincial Delegation of Badajoz”, indicates the specifications.
Furthermore, in its motivation, the Socialist Provincial Council maintains that “the implementation of equality policies should be a priority actionnot only because current regulations establish it, but also because of the commitment to the development and promotion of a democratic and social context.
The implementation – he adds – of equality measures “leads to an increase in productivity, represents added value to management procedures, as well as an improvement in quality in the provision of services to citizens” .
In this sense, the PSOE of Badajoz, which supported Sánchez’s brother, also emphasizes that institutions “must assume the principle of equality as one of the priority axes of social and work culture, and incorporate it from permanently in the management of their human resources. , ensuring that everyone has the same opportunities in terms of access, participation, permanence and enjoyment of rights.
In the case of the controversial selection process that gave Sánchez’s brother the position of coordinator of the activities of the music conservatories of the Badajoz Provincial Delegation in 2017, there were 11 candidates, including two women: Cristina Inmaculada De Frutos-Alonsoawarded by the Junta de Extremadura, and the soprano Celia Sánchez del Rio.

In July 2016, he obtained new director award at the VII International Conducting Course of the City of Badajoz Orchestra. Additionally, Sánchez del Río combined his training with a degree in library science and a diploma in documentation.
The selection process – led by other senior socialist officials – was based on a evaluation of criteria in accordance with the courses presented (diplomas, professional experience, languages, skills, commitment, etc.), as well as in the realization of a personal interview.
At the same time, the musician brother, orchestra director and composer of Pedro Sánchez, is currently accused of having committed up to five corruption crimes and prosecutors: against the Public Administration, against the Public Treasury, embezzlement, prevarication and influence peddling.
