Pecco Bagnaia starts strong. The Italian won the first battle by setting the fastest time on the first day of practice at the Solidarity MotoGP Barcelona. The current champion took the lead with his last lap (1:38.918) given in the final stages of practice. For his part, Jorge Martín did not have good feelings and finished fifth.
However, this result in both races would allow the Spaniard to become world champion. Despite the sensations, Martín managed to direct a large part of the session. He was the first to lower the time of Marco Bezzecchi, who achieved it very early and no one could beat him. But the surprise was achieved by Johann Zarco who, a few minutes from the end, was in first place with the Honda behind the wheel of Marc Márquez who was chasing Bagnaia, but he lost a few tenths in the last sector and could not place themselves in the first positions.
The conditions were tricky because the track was a bit cold and Martín couldn’t figure it out. The Madrilenian entered the box and shook his head after speaking with his chief mechanic, Daniele Romagnoli. The sensations were not good and although he achieved his best time behind his friend Aleix Espargaró, he ultimately did not manage to go beyond fifth place. In the end, Il Capitano finished third, just ahead of Zarco and behind Pecco and Bezzecchi.
On the other hand, it is worth highlighting the eighth place of Marc Márquez, who also did not have a good feeling. The Lleida native went straight into Q2 after qualifying in the top 10 in afternoon practice, just behind his brother, Álex Márquez, in seventh. But he was always in these positions, he never managed to reach the leading areas despite following Bagnaia’s wheel. The ninth was Pedro Acosta. Nakagami was left behind after dominating morning free practice.
