The Minister of the Presidency and Public Administrations, Antonia Maria Estarellas participated this Friday afternoon in the meeting dedicated to the assessment of the DANA situation suffered by the Balearic Islands and, in particular, the island of Mallorca. The general director of Emergencies and Interior, Pablo Gárriz, the director of 112, Eduardo Parga, the head of Emergencies 112, Toni Plata, the director of AEMET Baleares, María José Guerrero and the emergency technicians of the AEMET and Riscbal participated in the meeting. .
The outcome of the first hours of the storms is that the rain forecast falls within the forecasts made by AEMET, despite the fact that DANA has already left heavy rains in the regions of Ponente, Bahía de Palma, Llucmajor and Tramuntana.. Likewise, the General Directorate of Emergencies is torrent monitoring and the evolution of storms minute by minute.
For the moment the orange alert for rain and severe storms and IG 1 of the Meteobal Plan continues to be activated in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
Concerning the INUNBAL Plan, during the meetingand decided to go up to SO1, since the necessary parameters of accumulated rain were respected to raise the level as a preventative measure.
For the moment, the DG of Emergencies and the Interior has succeededo 70 incidents linked to small floods on public roads, establishments or ground floor dwellings. The majority in Sóller, Palma, Llucmajor, Calvià, Bunyola, Andratx and Marratxí.
Minister Estarellas addressed citizens to send a thank you message for demonstrated mental health and asked that they continue to pay attention to the advice given in the event of an emergency through social networks and during the interventions of emergency technicians in the media. Likewise, he recalled that the only channels with verified information are the social networks of Urgences 112, those of the Ministry of the Presidency and those of the Government.
