To decide who deserves the Ballon d’Or in each edition, a jury made up of journalists specializing in football from different parts of the world is called upon. For the men’s category, journalists from the top 100 countries in the FIFA rankings participate, while for the women’s category it is limited to 50 countries. This structure aims to ensure a global and balanced vision of the individual and collective performances of the players.
To award the Ballon d’Or, journalists award a decreasing score to ten players of your preference. THE first choice receives 15 pointsTHE second 12THE third 10and so on up to tenth positionwhich earns 1 point. At the end of the vote, the player who accumulates the most points is crowned winner of the Ballon d’Or.
