Begoña Gómez informed Complutense that it will not renew the software website in September

Begoña Gomez, the wife of the President of the Government, sent an email on September 11, through her lawyer, to the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) warning that she would not renew the web domain “transformatsc.es” due to “the administrative and judicial situation in which the Extraordinary Chair of Competitive Social Transformation finds itself.

This is stated in an “e-mail”, to which Europa Press had access, in which the vice-rector for planning, coordination and institutional relations of the UCM, José María Coello from Portugal, is informed that the registration of the website which supports the platform for measuring and managing social and environmental impacts “under development” expired on September 21, 2024.

In this document, advanced by El País, it is emphasized that the field was carried out by Begoña Gómez at the time “following the instructions of the Office of Transfer of Research Results (OTRI)” of the UCM.

Furthermore, in the invoice issued by the company Arsys Internet SL regarding the renewal of this web portal, to which this press agency also had access, it is specified that this domain was to be renewed for the period from September 2024 to September 2025 . a price of 30.25 euros, VAT included.

This email was answered on September 17, when Coello from Portugal told Begoña Gómez that this area “This is neither in the name of the UCM nor authorized by the UCM.“they would therefore not act “in any case concerning its renewal”.

Furthermore, he clarified that “it is not correct to assert that this domain registration was made at the time following the instructions of the OTRI” since they limited themselves to informing him of how to register a domain. He stressed that they had warned him that “any action linked to the said OTRI had the precondition of filling out a form (…) which was never sent to the said unit”.

A complaint for deletion

These documents contradict what was affirmed by the popular accusations of this Friday, when they alerted in a letter to judge Juan Carlos Peinado – who is investigating the trial against Gómez for influence peddling and corruption in companies – that they were aware of the deletion of the website ‘www.transformatsc.org’ between September 26 and 30.

As they explain in the letter, they consider it “least suspicious” that, after Hazte Oír’s complaint regarding the software was sent to the Court of Instruction number 41 of Madrid by the Provincial Court of Madrid, two days later – on September 26 – the site ‘transformatsc.org’ “was updated for the last time and since September 30 (…) has been deactivated”.

Regarding the fact that this web portal was registered in the name of Begoña Gómez, there is a September 2022 email from the OTRI Contracts and Patents Section (UCM) addressed to Begoña Gómez and other recipients – to which also This news agency had access to – in which they explain that they have never carried out the process of registering a domain and shared two external links explaining how this task was carried out.

“We are sending you a link on how to register a domain because it has never been performed this procedure from OTRI-UCM”, indicates the email in which, in addition, was attached an internal form of “Communication of work of invention for the Registry of Intellectual Property” which they had to fill in with the data of the authors of the website.

Furthermore, the OTRI clarified that the Territorial Registry of Intellectual Property was only responsible “strictly for the registration of the website, the literary/scientific work, multimedia” and that, therefore, the registration of the domain was a different procedure.
