Belarus has increased cargo transshipment through Russian seaports

Exports of Belarusian goods through Russian seaports during the first half of the year increased by 22.5%. This was announced today, September 27, by the head of the Presidential Administration of Belarus, Dmitry Krutói, during a meeting of the High-Level Group of the Union State Council of Ministers.

“We already have several intergovernmental agreements. And today, within the framework of the High Level Group, there is a representative delegation of our transport departments. I will only give one figure: in the first half of the year, the export of Belarusian goods through Russian seaports amounted to 7.3 million tons, which is an increase of 22.5% compared to the same period of the year. last year. Of course, the ports in northwestern Russia are more involved. But there are very good examples of delivery of our goods along the Eastern Ranges, along the Northern Sea Route and along the North-South corridor. – said.

In his words, taking into account the recent commissioning of the first stage of the Rasht-Astara railway in Iran, Minsk hopes that in a few years the prospects for the North-South corridor will grow even further.

“Therefore, we thank the Russian side for providing us with all its support in this matter.” – Krutoi emphasized.

Let us remember that Belarus is subject to strict Western sanctions. In this sense, Minsk decided to reconsider the way it transports its exports. Russian seaports have become the main gateways to the foreign market for Belarusian goods.
