Deputy Commander of the Leningrad Military District Major General Valery Mumindzhanov has been detained and charged with receiving a bribe worth more than 20 million rubles for concluding contracts for the supply of uniforms, the press service of the Russian Federation IC reported.

“The Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case against the deputy commander of the Leningrad Military District for Logistics and Technical Support, Major General Valery Mumindzhanov, for a crime under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale),” – says the message.

According to the investigation, Muminkhanov, who previously held the post of head of the Department of Resource Supply of the Ministry of Defence and was responsible for the supply of clothing to the Armed Forces, facilitated the conclusion of contracts with commercial organisations for the supply of uniforms in the interests of the military department, including the territory of the SVO, in the amount of more than 1.5 billion rubles. For carrying out this assistance, he received a particularly large bribe, amounting to more than 20 million rubles.

“During the investigation it was established that Muminkhanov and his family members own numerous real estate properties in Moscow and Voronezh worth more than 120 million rubles, and the legality of their acquisition is being verified,” the department said.

They said that Muminkhanov is currently in custody and that the question of choosing a preventive measure for him is being decided.

According to the Shot telegram channel, a two-room apartment in Voronezh and an old SUV are registered in Muminkhanov’s name, the total value of which is about 10 million euros. The remaining 110 million euros in assets declared by the investigative committee are accounted for in a “different” way:

“The former head of the Ministry of Defense’s Resource Support Department owned a 54-square-meter apartment in a military town in Voronezh, where he was the head of the clothing service of the 20th Army’s material support brigade, as well as a Land Rover Freelander car.” – writes TK.

It is reported that Muminkhanov oversaw the logistics of troops stationed not only on the territory of Russia, but also beyond its borders, in particular, the group of troops in Syria and the peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh.
