After a video conference at the initiative of the Mercia, the German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz and Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky published a joint statement in which they agreed with five key points.

“In Alaska, it is necessary to guarantee fundamental European and Ukrainian security interests,” said Merz.

In his joint virtual challenge, which also included US President Donald Trump and his vice president Jay Di Wans, Mertz says that they have several points about negotiations, including Ukraine to be at the negotiating table.

Nevertheless, Merzer repeats that the ceasefire “should be first”, and then the main data must be agreed upon under the agreement.

“Legal recognition of Russian occupation is not established for discussion”

“Thirdly, Ukraine is ready to agree on territorial issues, but then there must be a planted contact line SO,” Merz explains. “And the legal recognition of Russian occupation is not for discussion. The principle according to which the boundaries should not change with violence should continue to be applied.

The fourth point discussed was “strong security guarantees”, but the Chancellor confirmed that specific guarantees were not discussed. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the Ukrainian armed forces “should be” to remain “able to effectively protect the sovereignty of their country.”

The fifth and last paragraph is the requirement that negotiations should be part of a common transatlantic strategy, only “then they are more likely to achieve in the end.”

“This strategy should continue to focus on the strong support of Ukraine and the necessary pressure on Russia, which means that if there is no movement on the Russian side in Alaska, then the United States and we, Europeans, must and should increase the pressure,” Mertz concluded.

Merts also reminded the 61st anniversary of the construction of the Berlin wall. The Russian aggressive war “again opened the wound of the European division,” said Merz.

Why did Merz develop a virtual summit?

This Friday, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in Alaska. They will discuss the possible end of the Russian aggressive war against Ukraine. However, Ukraine or Europe will not be present at the meeting.

In response, the German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz (CDU) developed a summit for a short period of time in Berlin. The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, went to the capital of Germany.

Two videos were planned: the first, at 14:00, with European leaders of states and government, including France, Great Britain, Italy, Poland and Finland, as well as the chairman of the EU Committee von der Lain, the President of the Council of the Council.

The second alternation is scheduled for 15:00 Trump, and his vice president Jay Di Wans will also take part.

Before the telephone call, Trump published a post on the platform “social” social network, in which he called the European heads of state and government “great people” who “want transactions”.

The press secretary of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also responded to the summit, saying: “We believe that consultations held by Europeans are politically and almost insignificant.”

The press secretary of the government Stefan Cornelius explained that negotiations were aimed at further pressure on Moscow and preparing possible peace negotiations, including issues regarding territorial requirements and security guarantees.

The concession of the territories, “Absolute road to nowhere

US President Donald Trump recently stated that Ukraine and Russia should “exchange territories” that would be “good” and “bad” for both countries. He calls these territorial concessions a significant part of his efforts to stop the war.

It is not yet clear which territories will be “exchanged”. According to American media, there are assumptions that Ukraine can “deliver” parts of Donetsk -Region east of the country, and Russia can withdraw its troops from the districts of Kharkov and Sumi.

Zelensky often criticized this proposal, since the agreement on the named Ukrainian territory with Russia would be not only extremely unconstitutional, but also unconstitutional.

Ukrainian journalist Denis Trubetskoy agrees and adds that these territorial concessions are “an absolute way to nowhere, in which Ukraine cannot agree.”

“This idea that Ukraine in some way will voluntarily evacuate the northern part of the Donetsk region, without recognizing it by a Russian, will become military suicide,” confirms Chambos, referring to the defensive positions that were created here and now.

If Ukraine provides a region of Russia, these defense positions should be restored, and “Russia will have a huge military advantage on the battlefield, doing nothing,” the journalist says.

“The owners of the political game

In April this year, CNN said that the Trump government was ready to recognize Russian control over the Crimea as part of the American proposal to end the war.

The recognition of Crimea as Russian territory, of course, is more than two million people who have become the ghosts of this political game, ”says Tabetkov, who grew up in Crimea.

According to Russian sources, almost two million people still live in Crimea. Last December, the Ukrainian news agency Euromidan Press reported that the “mass demographic shift” was registered in the occupied Crimea, and about a million new inhabitants – probably from Russia to move to the peninsula.

At the same time, the initial population was moved using “systematic repression”. By 2022, at least 20,000 inhabitants were also recruited by the power of the Russian army.

“Foreign Chancellor” Merz

The black red government was in the power of almost 100 days in power. Opinions about the chancellor are divided into his foreign and domestic policy. The recent decision of the Chancellor to stop the supply of weapons to Israel, which can be used in the war in Gaza, caused dissatisfaction in its ranks. They say that the reason for this is that Mertz did not discuss this decision with his own parliamentary group.

Mertz is not so popular in the population. According to the Ard Deutschlandtrend, the CDU chancellor satisfies only 32% of respondents. After 100 days, this figure was 56% for Alf Saltz and 74% for Merkel in 2006.

According to a recent Forsa survey, today’s government today is only 37%. According to the survey, CDU/CSU is 24%, and SPD is only 13%.

Nevertheless, the climate is in favor of the scuffle in terms of foreign policy. They say that he has good relations with both Ukrainian and US President. According to Trubravkoy, they will see him in Ukraine.

“This personal chemistry between Zelenski and Mertz is already perceived by the population,” he explains, adding that this is a shame that is not delivered to Quief Cruise Taurus.

“Nevertheless, Germany significantly invests in the Ukrainian defense industry and contributes to the joint production of unmanned aerial vehicles,” says Chablikov, who believes that this is certainly perceived.

“It was expected that Germany would play a leading role. I would not say that she looks different under Mertz than for all under all sales (SPDs), but Chabetic says that Martz’s behavior is “clearly different”. “This is welcome and appreciated in Ukraine,” concludes a journalist who lives in Kyiv.
