“This strategy should continue to focus on the strong support of Ukraine and the necessary pressure on Russia, which means that if there is no movement on the Russian side in Alaska, then the United States and we, Europeans, must and should increase the pressure,” Mertz concluded.
Merts also reminded the 61st anniversary of the construction of the Berlin wall. The Russian aggressive war “again opened the wound of the European division,” said Merz.
Why did Merz develop a virtual summit?
This Friday, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in Alaska. They will discuss the possible end of the Russian aggressive war against Ukraine. However, Ukraine or Europe will not be present at the meeting.

The concession of the territories, “Absolute road to nowhere
US President Donald Trump recently stated that Ukraine and Russia should “exchange territories” that would be “good” and “bad” for both countries. He calls these territorial concessions a significant part of his efforts to stop the war.

Zelensky often criticized this proposal, since the agreement on the named Ukrainian territory with Russia would be not only extremely unconstitutional, but also unconstitutional.
