Biden addressed Netanyahu with instructions in conversation – White House

The White House press office has issued an official statement on the telephone conversation that took place on August 21 between US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

During their discussion, the leaders discussed steps the United States is taking to protect Israel from threats posed by Iran and its terrorist allies such as Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis, the statement said.

Biden stressed the importance of quickly completing a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the release of kidnapped people. He noted the urgent need to reach an agreement and discussed upcoming negotiations in Cairo aimed at removing remaining obstacles.

Earlier, Cursor reported that US presidential candidate Donald Trump called on Prime Minister Netanyahu to abandon the deal to release the hostages and a temporary ceasefire in Gaza. Trump expressed concern that successful negotiations could strengthen Kamala Harris’s position in the presidential race.

Although both politicians denied the phone conversations, Trump reiterated his position, calling on Israeli authorities to “act quickly” and criticizing demands for a ceasefire.

In addition, President Joe Biden said at the Democratic National Convention that his administration is actively working to provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza and end the fighting, stressing the importance of achieving peace and security in the Middle East. Negotiations to end hostilities and exchange hostages have been ongoing for several weeks, but have not yet yielded the expected results.
