Biden and Starmer allowed Ukraine to attack with long-range weapons

The main topic of negotiations between the leaders of the United States and Great Britain was the dispute with Russia over the use of Storm Shadow missiles. US President Joe Biden rejected aggressive statements by Vladimir Putin during his meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House on Friday.

Biden said he does not support the position that Ukraine’s use of Western Storm Shadow missiles to attack Russian targets could be seen as the start of a war between NATO and Russia.

According to the BBC, Starmer, after talks with Biden, did not announce any decision on Ukraine’s use of British Storm Shadow missiles to attack Russian territory.

Asked by reporters whether the British prime minister had been able to persuade Biden to authorise such strikes, Starmer said they had had a “long and productive conversation” covering Ukraine, the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific.

Vladimir Putin, who many consider the illegitimate president of the Russian Federation, previously argued that such a resolution would amount to NATO’s “direct involvement” in the conflict. However, when Biden was asked how he assessed the threat of war with Russia, he interrupted the reporter by saying, “Shut up, I’m talking now,” and then issued a prepared statement, adding that he “doesn’t care what you do,” Putin says.

According to The Guardian, a decision on the authorization has been made, but there has been no official announcement yet. The publication’s sources on September 11 noted that the visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy to Kiev that day would not have taken place without a positive decision on Storm Shadow strikes on Russian territory.

Earlier, Kursor reported that Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky named targets in the Russian Federation that Ukraine would attack with Western weapons if it received permission to do so.
