Biden changes his approach to the conflict between Israel and Iran – media

US President Joe Biden is shifting his approach to the Israeli-Iranian conflict, using a combined carrot and stick strategy. Biden’s approach includes both increased military aid to Israel and urgent calls for humanitarian support in the Gaza Strip. American troops arrived in Israel this week and the THAAD interception system is expected to arrive soon, demonstrating the United States’ commitment to Israeli security.

Reuters writes about this.

At the same time, Biden sent a stark warning to Israel about the situation in Gaza, forcing the Israeli government to urgently consider additional humanitarian assistance measures. Carnegie Endowment for International Peace expert Aaron David Miller noted that although the Biden administration is in the final months of its mandate, its active involvement in the situation demonstrates that the United States is committed to reducing the conflict and stabilizing the region. According to Miller, Washington is unlikely to limit its military support for Israel even if the conflict with Iran escalates.

According to Reuters, the US ultimatum on humanitarian aid to Gaza, as well as Israel’s actions in response to it, indicate the beginning of Washington’s deeper involvement in political decision-making in Israel. A former security official called the policy a departure from traditional Israeli security doctrine based on self-defense.

The presence of American troops on Israeli soil also underscores the strategic importance of the situation. Experts say the United States deployed forces to Israel for the first time shortly after the Iranian attack, a move that could signal greater American influence over Israeli decisions.
