US President Joe Biden ordered the Pentagon to protect former US leader and candidate for head of state, Donald Trump, from Republicans, as if he were the current head of the White House. He announced this on October 11 during a conversation with reporters at the White House.
“I told the ministry to give him everything he needs. As if he were the current president.” — The Guardian newspaper quotes Biden.
It is clarified that the US president also stated that Trump’s request for military equipment for security should be fulfilled “only if it is not an F-15 fighter.”
Earlier in the day, it emerged that the Trump campaign had requested military aircraft to protect him due to a possible threat from Iran. It was also learned that Trump will not be able to play golf before the election.
On October 5, the Secret Service reportedly expressed concern about the risk of another attempt on Trump’s life. Agents noted that staffing shortages and increased workloads before the election had pushed the Secret Service into a near-crisis state.
The first attempt on Trump’s life occurred on July 13, when he was holding a campaign rally. The former American leader received a tangential gunshot wound to the ear. As a result of the shooting, one of the spectators died and two other people were injured. The attacker was killed while returning fire from an FBI sniper.
The second assassination attempt on Trump in as many months took place on September 15. There was a shooting at a golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. It was clarified that Trump was 500 m from the epicenter of the incident.
