Democratic US President Joe Biden has tried on a cap in support of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, White House spokesman Andrew Bates said.
Biden on Wednesday attended events commemorating the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
“At the Shanksville firehouse, the president spoke about bipartisan unity in the country after 9/11 and called for a return to that. As a gesture, he handed the hat to a Trump supporter, who encouraged the president to wear a Trump hat in the same spirit. He wore it for a while.” — Bates wrote on social media X.
This is how the Trump campaign explained the post, which published a photo of Biden wearing a former opponent’s cap and thanked him for his support.
The current president, after a disastrous performance in the debate with Trump, dropped out of the race for the post in favor of the vice president. Kamala Harris.
The first debate between Trump and Harris took place yesterday in Philadelphia. The Democratic candidate’s headquarters announced its willingness to hold a second round in October, but Trump refused.
The US presidential election will take place on November 5.
