Sixteen years of FesTVal

On Monday, September 1st, the sixteenth edition of FesTVal began in Vitoria, an unmissable event for professionals in national television where the most outstanding new features on the small screen are announced on platforms and free networks. This year, OKDIARIO participated in the contest during what promises to be a week full of interesting content. In addition, the return of Big brother with anonymous people at Telecinco and the premiere of the first daily streaming series- Back to the salt marshes,- which were experienced on the first day, the last season of Interviews (Telecinco), the new documentary on Alaskathe novelty of the series Rapa (Movistar +), Masterchef Celebrity 9 among many other proposals. Perhaps, from an informative point of view, the most striking thing will be to see David Broncano presenting (Wednesday, September 4) his new controversial program for TVE (the one that Pedro Sanchez insisted on doing it despite a cost of 14 million per season). Seven days that will go far and, from there, we will tell everything. Below is a summary of what the first day of FesTVal gave.

The return of ‘Big Brother’ to Telecinco

Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the format’s international launch, the Big brother starring anonymous people will return to Telecinco on Thursday, September 5, but before that it was presented at FestVal with the presence of not only the presenters- Jorge Javier Vazquez And Ion Aramendi– but of important television personalities discovered in reality as Adara Molinero, Marta Peñate, Suso Alvarez, Ismael Beiro, Pedro Oliva, Liz Emiliano And Silvia CasadoIn addition, Jaime Guerra, director of content production at Mediaset España, was also present; María Zambrano, director of Reality and Encounters of the group; Miguel Martín, general director of Zeppelin; and Floren Abad, executive producer of the program.

Let us remember that the brand GH suffered a setback when, seven years ago, Carlota Prado, one of the candidates for the so-called GH Revolutionif he suffered a sexual assault by one of his companions – José María López – while he was drunk. In 2019, after the publication of a video in which the victim was informed of what had happened to him (inside the confessional and without being able to escape), there was a boycott by advertisers, which led Mediaset to remove the reality show that had brought him so much joy (and money) for almost two decades.

But now, after the resolution of the trial (which exonerated Mediaset and sentenced the aggressor to a year and a half in prison), Telecinco has returned to the origins of GHthat is, giving importance to anonymous candidates and thus, in doing so, new characters are created who will surely renew Mediaset’s coffers.

Presentation of ‘GH 9’: The ‘pullitas’ between Adara and Marta Peñate

The presentation of GH19 at the Vitoria FesTVal, it was open to the public. As expected, the entrance of the former candidates and presenters on the red carpet was intense due to the number of fans waiting for them in the rain. To say that we were surprised to see two enemies of television like Marta Peñate and Adara Molinero sitting together and in a rather friendly attitude. However, at one point Peñate said: “I advise new contestants to be real and if they have to make a mistake, then make a mistake. Now you speak, Adara, you have made mistakes many times. Both laughed and Molinero assured: “Thank God, we already get along well. It’s incredible but that’s how it is.

The directors and managers of the reality show have stated that in this new edition there will be many “novelties”, that the “casting closes at the first gala”, that “anything can happen” and that the house that has been created is the most spectacular and largest in history. The prize will be 300,000 euros and more than 100,000 people have applied. Jorge Javier Vázquez said: “This edition comes at the right time. It’s time to meet new people.

The big surprise: an unexpected new candidate

And the highlight of the press conference came when Jorge Javier stood up and asked the audience which of the people present was in the casting. Eleven raised their hands. The presenter said that at that moment it would be announced that one of them would enter the house of Guadalix next Thursday. “The envelope, please,” Vázquez asked and a young woman handed it to him. When the Catalan read the name, he turned to his left, pointed at the stewardess and shouted: “Maika!”

The young woman began to scream and cry. Still in shock, he had to sit down and, after catching his breath, he said: “A week ago they told me that I didn’t belong, that I didn’t belong but that I had to come here as a flight attendant.”

A daily soap opera for Disney+

Back to Las Sabinas It’s an experiment. It’s the first daily series broadcast on a streaming platform. Starting October 11, Disney+ will put the first five episodes online and then broadcast one per day (out of a total of 70). A formula that imitates traditional television but offers “more freedom” in creation, as the managers explained to us during the press conference in the presence of the actors. Andrés Velencoso, Celia Freijeiro, Natalia Sánchez, María Casal, Miquel Fernández as well as the director Jordi Fradeyes, the creator Eulàlia Carrillo And Sofia Fabregas, Vice President of Original Production at Disney+ in Spain.

During the presentation, both some actors and the director himself could not hold back their tears after the gigantic work accomplished. Six months of filming plus a year of editing to produce these 70 chapters that can represent a before and after in the consumption of streaming.

Is the series worth it? Yes. After watching the first five chapters (thanks to sieves provided by Disney+), we can say that Back to Las SabinaIt is a step forward in the genre of the soap opera. Nothing new is discovered, the plots are archetypal but there is a greater audiovisual luxury; there are no sets, everything is natural, which the photography benefits a lot from. We warn, yes, that the series starts gently but that it is from the fifth episode that things get crazy (for the best).
