Bimbo agrees to work on a reindustrialization plan for its Valladolid factory

Small progress in the negotiations between the food multinational Bimbo and the works council. The company agreed, during the meeting held this Tuesday with union representatives, to develop a reindustrialization plan for its Valladolid factory. This was stated to this newspaper by the delegate of the UGT union to the committee, Antonio Álvarez, at the end of the aforementioned meeting, convened in a hotel in the center of Valladolid to negotiate a solution that would allow jobs to be maintained in the factory in the capital of Pisuerga. .

As the union representative explained, the food company confirmed at the meeting that it had hired the project of a company dedicated to reindustrialization, more precisely LHH. “Tomorrow – today – they will send us in writing all the details of this contract and, also, what it may include”, he commented, insisting that during the meeting no type no content has been put forward on this subject. “Since I don’t know what they are going to present to us, there is neither light nor light. “We will have to see the conditions and what the company is willing to do in this plan because they have made it clear that it will not be for everyone.”

This is why, in evaluating this claim, the Bimbo Works Council is finalizing the details of a consensual social plan which could lead to departures, early retirements or transfers to other centers: “We say that the “The plant is viable and we’re ready to listen to what’s going on.”

This progress in negotiations comes a little more than 24 hours after the start of the first of nine days of strikes announced during the month of October to demonstrate their disagreement with the company’s decision to close its facilities in the capital of Valladolid , indicated for today, Wednesday, at 8:45 p.m., with the night shift, and which, in principle, will be extended for workers on the morning and afternoon shifts on Thursday.

Likewise, the works council announced to the competent authorities the holding of seven additional days of strike on October 16 and 17 and, without interruption, between the 20 and 25 of the same month. The worker representatives, however, recalled that the convening of each session is subject to the evolution of the negotiations.

A few hours before the meeting between the Works Council and the food company, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Employment, Leticia García, had already announced that those responsible for the Board of Directors and the Foundation Anclaje would hold a meeting “these days” with the multinational. A meeting which, as Antonio Álvarez explained, will take place with LHH. The president of the Commission explained that they would try to explain to their representatives “the possible solutions through other investors” for their industry in Valladolid, at this stage where “the file of labor regulation continues to advance “. “It has been difficult,” he said, insisting that “we believe the company is obliged to listen to other solutions before proceeding with the dismissal.”

This was stated after his meeting with the board of directors of the Segovia Business Federation (FES) in Segovia, where he also demanded that “activity be maintained” at the Valladolid factory during the entire process of negotiation and again asked the multinational to listen to alternatives. closing and providing necessary information to potential investors. “We’re not throwing in the towel,” he said. According to the UGT delegate, the Council explained to them “very clearly” that everything that was discussed during this meeting will be transferred to the negotiating table. For now, they hope to know the details of the aforementioned reindustrialization plan from 9 a.m. today.
