Palma will be the scene on October 12 of the first edition of the Ciutat de Palma Canoe Trophy, a competition that will bring together 32 international level canoeists (16 men and 16 women) during an intense day that will be celebrated at the Parc du Lac de la Mar, at the foot of the Palma Cathedral.
Organised by the Real Club Náutico de Palma (RCNP), the Trophy will be an unprecedented challenge, focused exclusively on a sprint test with ciaboga on a distance yet to be revealed which will test the skill and endurance of the participants. This unique format promises emotion and spectacle in a privileged location in the city, in view of all citizens who wish to attend.
Piraguas Nelo, as main sponsor, and the Palma City Council, through its institutional sponsorship, support this initiative that seeks to establish itself in the local calendar of major sporting events international. The event also benefits from the collaboration of Paddle Games.
Among the participants, who will be announced soon, Olympic and world canoeists will be therewhich guarantees an elite level of competition and maximum excitement for canoe enthusiasts.
For now, as explained Carlos Borrasdirector of the organizing committee, the presence of the three best sailors of the Real Club Náutico de Palma is confirmed (Alex Graneri, Carla Vey And Lluc Matas), all with experience in international championships. “We will announce other names of authentic canoeing legends” adds Borrás.
The Real Club Náutico de Palma and the Palma City Council reaffirm their a common commitment to high-level sport with this event, contribute to the promotion of the city as a place of competitions attracting both participants and the local and international public. Manu Fraga, RCNP director, points out that after 72 years of the Ciutat de Palma Sailing Trophy (the oldest sports competition in the Balearic Islands), “it was time for a major canoeing competition to bear the name of our city.”
