The new edition of the directory “Who is who” of the province of Cordoba It was presented this Tuesday evening at the Hospes Palacio del Bailío hotel. This initiative was born from the collaboration between ABC Cordoba and San Telmo Business School. It also benefits from the sponsorship of the Town Hall and the Provincial Deputation of Cordoba.
This is the third edition of a work which aims to be an annual x-ray of the business world, its possibilities, its strengths and its future, always taking into account the particularity of the territory. In this case, it brings together the references of 900 companies.
The speaker, José Manuel Cansino, professor of applied economics at the University of Seville and professor at the San Telmo Business School, highlighted the current economy of Córdoba which “with its gross domestic product of almost 17.2 billion euros per year, brings value and competes with the global economy “. Cansino recalled that the province has just broken its export record “in the period from January to August, with almost 2.2 billion euros.”
In front of an audience composed mainly of businessmen, Cansinos warned of the imminent dangers that American customs tariffs could represent for the agricultural sector, which has an extraordinary weight in the province’s economy: “it is It has already become a tradition that agri-food products are taken hostage in a trade, a war that was never theirs. In this sense, the professor recalled that Spain is the world’s leading exporter in the agri-food sector and that, in the specific case of Cordoba, the agricultural area contributes to the Gross domestic product from the province more than 1,500 million euros per year.
Cansinos highlighted in his speech the evolution of olive oil, which in the past was only exported in bulk, notably to Italy, but now “we import oil produced abroad to condition it in Spainalso in Cordoba, and subsequent distribution. Likewise, the professor opted for the acceleration of olive oil logistics, particularly with regard to the establishment of the central railway branch, which “would connect the cities of Algeciras, Cordoba, Bobadilla, Madrid and Zaragoza with the French border.

“Who is who” is a monograph of more than 120 pages divided into 17 strategic sectors, such as public administration; agri-food; water, energy and infrastructure; advice, consultations and audits; automobile; banking, finance and insurance; professional associations and foundations; trade and distribution; real estate and construction; culture and leisure; training, education and trade schools; industry and manufacturing; innovation, technology and telecommunications; logistics and transportation; media, advertising and graphic arts agencies; sanitation and health; and finally tourism and catering.
