November 1 is the birthday of popular artist Elmira Shabanova.
Oku.Az remember that Elmira Balahuseyn gizi Huseynova was born in Baku in 1940.
In 1958-62 he studied acting at the MAaliyev State Art Institute and in 1969 at the directing faculty, but his father prevented him from pursuing his art.
E.Shabanova married director Rufat Shabanov in the first year of the institute and, since the director forbade her, she did not appear in films until 1977. The actress says about this:
“First my father and then my wife forbade me. I understood my wife. Our people are a little different. She knew that I had talent. But she always said that Elmira, if you play a single role in a love movie, that moment is “It will spread that you are betraying me. That’s why I only worked as a teacher until I was forty. After that, directors only gave me mother roles.”
E. Shabanova worked as a professor and associate professor at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts in the years 1962-97. He appeared in about 30 feature films at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio.
The actress, who appeared on the screens with the short film “On the Edge of Misery” in 1977, created one after another interesting characters in cinema, radio and television, especially in the 80s. Among them, an important place was occupied the character of “Lady Hamida Khanum”, which she ably portrayed in the film “Gam zamanesi”, based on Anar’s script and directed by Anar.
E. Shabanova is remembered for her beautiful characters in the films “Old People”, “Caucasus”, “The 40th Door”.
The actress received the honorary title “People’s Artist” in 2006.
