The 11th summit of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) is held in Bishkek. The summit, which aims to deepen relations with the Turkish world and contribute to the promotion of the interests and values ​​of Turkish-speaking countries, has important historical significance.

It should be noted that this year marks 15 years of DTT activity. The organization, based on a common language, history and traditions, which are strengthened year after year, has made an important contribution to the development of cooperation between Turkish-speaking countries in various forms during the last period, has accelerated integration among the countries of the Turkish world as a whole, and has managed to include its name in the ranks of international organizations as a prestigious organization. Currently, DTT has become an effective platform for cooperation where brother Turkish people proudly share their interests and values. A positive dynamic is observed in the member countries of the Turkish world, which covers a large geographical area. Rich natural resources, modern infrastructure for their use, transport corridors connecting Central Asia and the Caucasus with the ports of the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, a rich and ancient history and culture are the greatest wealth of the Turkish world.

The goal is to make the 21st century a century of prosperity for the Turkish world and active work is being done in that direction. The summit to be held in Bishkek will play an important role in achieving this goal.

Participants will declare their commitment to international agreements, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, the inviolability of recognized borders and the inadmissibility of interference in internal affairs. In this context, support is expected for efforts to ensure peace and normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Discussions are also expected on topics such as the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, maximum use of the potential of the Middle Corridor and the opening of the Zangezur Corridor.

As stated by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the Turkish states are responsible for harnessing the potential of DTT and turning this platform into a center of power on a global scale. This goal will definitely come true. In this sense, the summit held in Kyrgyzstan will undoubtedly strengthen the positions of DTT.

Overall, Azerbaijan’s contribution plays a special role in strengthening relations with the Organization of Turkic States. This is one of the directions to which our country attaches great importance. The line accepted by the majority is that Azerbaijan considers this organization, which it created together with the sister Turkish republics, as its family and proudly demonstrates that it belongs to the greater Turkish world. This was once again reflected in the views of the head of the country during his speech at the swearing-in ceremony on February 14, 2024. President Ilham Aliyev said: “TDT is for us the main international organization, because it is our family. We have no other family. Our family is the Turkish world,” and sent a message to the world that Azerbaijan belongs to the great Turkish country. family, this family is strong, invincible and reliable from now on, relations with Turkish states and organizations will be further strengthened and successful joint measures will be taken.

This statement was also an expression of the strength and power of Turkish unity and its unbreakable character.

The presence of close friendship and brotherly relations between the member countries of the Organization of Turkish States is one of the main factors determining the future development prospects of the organization. Currently, the Organization of Turkic States is recognized as an accredited organization by the countries of the world, the reputation of the organization is increasing day by day thanks to the close cooperation and joint efforts of the member countries.

It should be noted that DTT was established on the basis of the “Nakhchivan Agreement on the Establishment of the Cooperation Council of Turkish-speaking States” signed by the Heads of State of the Turkish-speaking countries at the Summit held in Nakhchivan on 3 October 2009. Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye are founding members of the organization. In 2019, Uzbekistan also became a member of TDT. The signing of the Nakhchivan Agreement, which laid the foundations for the formation of the institutional structure of the Turkish states and united them for stronger integration, is of great historical and political importance. With this agreement, successful activities were launched in the direction of further development of relations between the brotherly Turkish states in various fields and the creation of a single platform for cooperation.

Undoubtedly, the summit held in Bishkek will be an important platform to further strengthen cooperative and integration relations between the member states of the Organization of Turkish States and to discuss important issues related to those countries.
