BMW to develop hydrogen-powered electric car with Toyota

Germany’s BMW and Japan’s Toyota will jointly develop electric vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells.

Oku.Az reports that this was reported in the BMW press release.

In 2028, BMW will launch hydrogen versions of its cars within one of its current model series. The partners will jointly develop drive units for new hydrogen-powered electric cars.

Hydrogen electric cars are reported to be powered not by batteries, but by electricity generated by the interaction of hydrogen and oxygen.

However, BMW does not see hydrogen cars as a substitute for battery-powered electric cars.

“We do not see them as competitors. In our view, they complement each other,” the company says.
