The European Union is going to impose sanctions on China because it allegedly began supplying weapons to Russia. This was reported today by the German publication FAZ, citing sources.
“The European Union wants to impose sanctions against China because this country was the first to supply weapons to Russia for later use against Ukraine. As confirmed by three FAZ sources, the head of EU foreign policy Josep Borrell informed EU states of relevant intelligence findings ahead of the foreign ministers’ meeting next Monday and called for consequences.” — writes FAZ, quoted by RIA Novosti.
The evidence is “compelling” and we are talking about the supply of lethal weapons, said an anonymous EU diplomat. According to another source, much of the EU’s actions will depend on Beijing’s response to the proposals. “The debate on sanctions is still at an early stage,” the source said.
However, the publication does not provide any concrete evidence of Chinese arms supplies to Russia.
Recall that the United States has repeatedly expressed claims against China, accusing it of supplying dual-use goods and other types of assistance to Russia.
