Coupang Play Series ‘Newtopia’ / Provided by Bound Entertainment
[마이데일리 = 천주영 기자] Global content company Bound Entertainment announced on the 20th that it will produce the Coupang Play series ‘Newtopia’.
‘Newtopia,’ which Bound Entertainment produces with Billions Plus, is based on the novel ‘Influenza’ (Munhakdongne) by writer Han Sang-woon, and is an original series in the ‘K-Zombie’ genre first introduced by Cupang Game.
It is the story of a soldier, Jae-yoon, and his girlfriend, Yeong-ju, who struggle to find themselves in Seoul, which is overrun by hordes of zombies. The main character, Jaeyoon, is played by reliable actor Park Jung-min, and Youngju is played by Blackpink’s Jisoo. Han Jin-won, the screenwriter of ‘Parasite,’ and Ji Ho-jin, the screenwriter of the Disney+ series ‘Killers’ Shopping Mall,’ are in charge of the script, and director Yoon Seong-hyun, who directed ‘Watchmen’ and ‘Time to Hunt,’ will take the lead role.
Bound Entertainment, which was in charge of production, is a global content company founded in 2018 by CEO Ha Yeon-joo, who has over 20 years of experience in the content investment and production industry. CEO Ha Yeon-joo has participated in the production direction of domestic commercial films such as ‘The Ultimate Weapon’ and ‘Speed Scandal’ as well as the general producer of ‘Snowpiercer’ and ‘Okja’. Additionally, in 2021, he served as the executive producer of ‘Dr Brain,’ a Korean Apple TV+ film starring director Ji-woon Kim and the late actor Seon-gyun Lee.
Bound Entertainment is engaged in a variety of activities including the development of domestic and foreign film projects, as well as domestic and foreign dramas, and the YouTube web entertainment channel ‘Welcome to the Studio’. In addition, we are developing American drama scripts and global film projects with Hollywood Studios production companies.
