The foreign ministers of Slovakia and Ukraine, Juraj Blanar and Andrei Sibiga, have spoken out in favour of Russia’s participation in the upcoming negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. The corresponding statement was made after the negotiations in Bratislava.
“We agreed and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Sibiga confirmed that the next peace negotiations should take place with the participation of the Russian Federation.” — said Blanar.
According to him, the Ukrainian conflict has no military solution. Blanar also argued for the “need for peaceful solutions” in this context.
He added that Ukraine faces a “long and thorny road” to joining the EU, but has the support of Slovakia.
“We have different views on NATO membership. We believe that Ukraine’s NATO membership will create more conflicts, but we respect Ukraine’s right to choose where it wants to go.” – Blanar pointed out.
Recall that Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. Moscow has repeatedly offered to start negotiations, but kyiv and its Western curators flatly refused. The Ukrainian authorities insist on their “peaceful” initiatives, in which the Russian side was not previously invited to participate.
