The lawyers of the former President of Brazil Zaire Bolsonaru rejected the accusations of attempt by the coup in their last speech in front of the Supreme Court in the case, which forces him to try to remain in his power after his 20 -year defeat.

The defense claimed that there was no sufficient evidence that Bolsonar was acting against democratic institutions or prompted others to do this. They emphasized that his decision to resolve the smooth transition of the authorities, denies the main statement that he sought to prevent him.

“This is proof that it rejects the essence of the category,” the lawyers said.

The precipitation of the final arguments by himself and other defendants notes the last procedural step until the completion of the trial, which is expected to be closed by the end of the year.

Five judges of the Supreme Court will be issued by the end of guilt or not the former president and his allies. If guilty of a coup attempt is found, Bolsonaru is in danger of up to 12 years in prison, and in combination with other categories, he may encounter many years of prison.

Even if he is convicted, he has the right to appeal to the plenary session of the Supreme Court.

The country’s electoral judicial power has already excluded a distant policy from any nomination by 2030, judging by the fact that he abused his power, undermining confidence in the electoral system.

Bolsonaru has been at home from August 5. Judge Alexander de Morace accused him of violating restrictive measures, spreading content through his three sons who are deputies. Last week, the judge relaxed the conditions, allowing unlimited family visits.

The case put public opinion in Brazil, and the country is in the midst of a trade conflict with the United States. US President Donald Trump publicly expressed his support to Bolsonar, describing the judicial persecution of “witch hunts” and linking his recent decision to bring a 50% fee from Brazil with his legal adventures.

The prosecutor of the Supreme Court Paulo Pauln showed his final arguments in July, referring to an extensive conspiracy against democratic institutions. According to him, they include handwritten notes, digital files, messages and computing sheets that allegedly describe the drawing.
