At the Russian Energy Week, energy ministers of the BRICS countries will agree on general principles for a fair energy transition, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his greeting to the forum participants.

Vladimir Putin noted that the issue of energy cooperation in a multipolar world is very important and relevant.
“It is obvious that in the new geopolitical realities, interaction in the energy sector should serve to strengthen national economies, contribute to the solution of priority social problems and improve people’s quality of life.” – says the Russian leader.
Most countries around the world are taking action to combat climate change under the Paris Agreement to halt global warming. At the same time, Western countries are insisting on a radical move away from fossil fuels and a transition to green energy by mid-century. At the same time, producing countries and developing countries are pushing for a smoother energy transition using technologies to capture CO2 from fossil fuels, which suits both producing countries and larger developing countries.
