The BRICS countries hold more than 20% of the world’s gold reserves.

According to the information, world reserves reached 29.03 thousand tons in the second quarter of 2024, of which 6.2 thousand tons (21.4%) belong to the BRICS countries, which did not disclose their data, except Iran and Ethiopia .
The leaders in terms of gold reserves among the BRICS countries are Russia (2.34 thousand tons) and China (2.26 thousand tons), occupying 37.6% and 36.4% of the total volume of the association, respectively. They are followed by India (840.76 tons), Saudi Arabia (323 tons), Brazil (129.7 tons), Egypt (126.57 tons), South Africa (125.44 tons) and the United Arab Emirates (74.5 tons ).
Globally, the United States remains the leader with 8.1 thousand tons of gold, which represents almost a third of all world reserves. They are followed by Germany (3.35 thousand tons), Italy (2.45 thousand tons) and France (2.44 thousand tons).
