BRICS Writers Forum opens in Kazan

The BRICS Writers’ Forum opens in Kazan. Writers, poets and translators from China, India, Brazil, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and other countries will participate.

Russia will be represented at the forum by modern writers. Sergey Shargunov, Igor Volgin, Evgeniy Popov, Anastasia Strokinaforum curator Irina Barmetova.

The event will be a platform to discuss the role of literature in strengthening cultural ties among the BRICS countries and popularizing the literary traditions of these countries in the international arena.

According to the organizers, the forum will feature round tables, debates, master classes and presentations.

Among the participants is, for example, one of the leading popularizers of Russian literature in China, author of more than 20 monographs. Liu WenfeiChinese poet, calligrapher and critic, recognized as one of the “Five Masters of Sichuan” Ouyang JiangheIndian writer Madhav KaushikIndian poet, short story writer and translator who writes in Telugu, Kruthiventi Srinivasaraopoet and writer from the United Arab Emirates, actively involved in the cultural life of her country and promoting literature in the Arab world, Sheikha al-MutairiOmani writer specializing in children’s and young adult literature, Hula al-MujainiBrazilian poet Astier Basilio da Silva Lima and Iranian philosopher and writer, specialist in Islamic philosophy and Sufism Seyid Hossein Tabatabaii.

The forum will last until September 13.
