British security adviser killed in Russian bombing in Ukraine

A security advisor from a press agency team Reuters identified as Ryan EvansBritish national, died this Sunday after a Russian attack on the Sapphire Hotelin the Ukrainian city of Kramatorskin Donetsk province. Two other team members, a Ukrainian and an American, were injured.

“We are devastated to learn of the passing of Ryan Evans, Reuters Security Advisor. I was with our team of journalists in Ukraine“, the international news agency said in a statement.

“Ryan was part of a team staying at the Sapphire Hotel in Kramatorsk, eastern Ukraine, when he was struck by a projectile on Saturday, August 24, 2024,” he added.Two of our journalists are hospitalized. One of them is seriously injured. “Three other colleagues are safe,” the agency said. The company is now cooperating with the authorities in Kramatorsk and is trying to “urgently obtain more information about the attack.”

The building was reportedly hit by a projectile where the Reuters team was located. The hotel is located approximately 20 kilometers from the seafront.

Initial assessments indicate that the projectile was a Iskander ballistic missile which hit a residential area of ​​the city on Saturday night, the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office also reported on Telegram.
