Bruno Le Maire denies any “concealment” or “deception” before the Senate

The former Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, estimated, on Thursday, November 7, that the decrease in the public deficit to 6.1% of the gross domestic product (GDP) was “The election of the current government”refuting everything “concealment” EITHER “will to deceive” on the situation of public accounts.

“When they tell me that the deficit in 2024 will be 6.1%, it is the choice of the current government. And I will provide all the evidence that we could have in 2024, with more rigorous recovery measures, a deficit of around 5.5%. I will therefore formally challenge this 6.1% figure.”declared Bruno Le Maire. The former minister spoke before the Senate Finance Committee within the framework of an information mission on the drift of public finances. “There was no guilt, no concealment, no desire to deceive”he added.
