Brussels will give Spain more budgetary space to face the costs of the Dana which affected the Levant and the south of the country and left more than 200 dead. The Economic Vice-President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis, confirmed this on Tuesday during a press conference: “Regarding the floods in Spain, the Commission will continue to provide Spain with all the necessary support to Support Spain in this difficult situation.

He further indicated that “the services of the European Commission are already in contact with the Spanish authorities to discuss the possibilities and needs.” The new tax rules, which will start to apply from next year, include “fiscal tools to help Spain cope with this difficult situation”» added Dombrovskis.
