Israelis who suffered during the Amsterdam pogrom speak with horror of their experiences.
The Voice of Israel Telegram channel writes about this.
The victims say that at the time of the pogrom they asked local businessmen for help, but they were denied. One of the witnesses reported that the taxi driver whom he asked for help not only refused, but also forced him to abandon the car, after which he supported the attackers.
Another victim said that he and his girlfriend only managed to escape thanks to a group of young Dutch men who intervened and called the police. At the same time, the staff at the hotel where they requested asylum refused to accept them.
Some Israelis took refuge in fast food establishments such as KFC, where they tried to wait out the violence, as the number of police officers was insufficient to deal with the situation. The police, they said, were unable to quickly provide medical assistance to all the victims.
Witnesses describe the attacks as organized, in convoys of dozens of vehicles, with attackers throwing stun grenades and fireworks at windows.
