BSU professor dies – Oxu.az

Professor Ifrat Aliyeva, a senior researcher at the Scientific Research Laboratory (ETL) “Literature and Literary Translation of Azerbaijani Emigration” at the Faculty of Philology of Baku State University (BSU), has passed away.

Ifrat Aliyeva was born in 1938 in Baku. In 1956, after graduating from Huseyn Javid High School, she entered the Faculty of Philology at BSU. In 1962, she became a full-time graduate student at the Department of Literary History of Azerbaijan at BSU. In 1971 she defended her dissertation on “The Letters of Bakhtiyar Vahabzade” and received the degree of candidate of philological sciences, in 1988 she received her doctorate in philological sciences with a dissertation on “The Creative Path of Mommed Rahim”, and in 1989 she received the scientific title of professor. In 2009, she was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Teacher”.

In 1962-68 Ifrat Aliyeva was a laboratory assistant at the Department of History of Azerbaijani Literature of BSU, chief laboratory assistant in 1968-71, professor in 1971-73, director in 1973-79, Philology in 1979-80 worked as vice-dean of the faculty. In 1980-88 he was an associate professor at the Department of History of Azerbaijani Literature, in 1988-92 he was a professor, in 1992-94 he was vice-dean of the Faculty of Philology, in 1994-99 he was vice-dean of the Faculty of Philology. -part-time rector of secondary education at BSU From 1999 to 2021 he worked as a professor at the Department of History of Azerbaijani Literature, and since 2021 as a senior researcher at the ETL “Literature of emigration and literary translation of Azerbaijan”.

Professor Ifrat Aliyeva’s field of research is modern Azerbaijani literature and literary criticism.

Ifrat Aliyeva is the author of six books, more than 60 articles and methodological instructions.
