Nestlé has confirmed the return of iconic Buitoni (formerly La Cocinera) wafers to Spanish supermarkets, just for the Christmas period. Thus, the crisis of empanadillas ends, as it was popularly coined to refer to the period of recent months in which these had disappeared from exhibitors. From this week, consumers will be able to find this product in the usual points of sale, thus meeting its strong demand at this time of the year. According to the company, the reintroduction of this product was possible thanks to obtaining superior quality flour, meeting the required standards.
The Penilla de Cayón factory, in Cantabria, has resumed production of the famous wafers after ensuring the supply of flour with the necessary characteristics. According to André Moura, culinary director of Nestlé Spain, this return responds to “the brand’s commitment to offering high quality products.”
In turn, Moura emphasizes that obtaining the specific flour used in their manufacture “involved a meticulous process, carried out in order to maintain the characteristics and flavor that have always characterized them.”
The first batches have already started to be distributed to supermarkets and the availability of the merchandise will be gradually expanded over the coming weeks. The company hopes to satisfy demand from consumers looking for this key element for their holiday recipes.
Traditional Buitoni wafers, known for their thin, flaky and easy to handle dough, return in their original format. This preparation is ideal for preparing both sweet and savory dumplings. In addition to the empanadilla fever that is taking over establishments, the brand will also continue to offer its new range of Argentinian-style pastas, which are differentiated by their thickness and more pronounced texture and flavor.
The recurring complaint of many users, expressed through social networks, has long reflected a common point: the quality of the product was no longer what it was before. Its texture and consistency did not seem to meet the current demands of consumers, who were looking for better performance in the preparation of their culinary creations.
Thus, after a period of absence, the reappearance of Buitoni pads was well received by customers and distributors. On social networks and forums specializing in cooking, we already find positive comments on the return of a product that many considered essential. On the other hand, this could be useful to retailers, since the return of this item to their shelves could boost sales during the holiday season.
The announcement of its return aroused the enthusiasm of users, especially those who consider this product essential to their preparations. The versatility and quality of wafers make them an essential ingredient for making dishes ranging from typical empanadas to more innovative creations.
For empanadilleros, in addition to flavor, these sheets of dough have emotional and cultural value, they are the protagonists of common recipes and menus in these festive times.
Empanadillas, an emblematic dish of Spanish gastronomy, stand out for their versatility, being prepared both at home and in restaurants. This particularity underlines the importance of relaunching such a popular product, particularly in traditional and modern recipes.
